Using the Fan Page to promote programs

A week after Facebook released the new 2011 Fan Page design, SPJ unveiled a new use of what became it's prominent five piece photo display "real estate" at the top of the Society's page by applying the space to create a series of five promotional images. Each image highlighted five different programs SPJ has to offer. I was inspired to create this new series by individual profile pages that had made innovative use of the new profile page formatting the previous November.

To increase detail of the new branding technique, each series of promotions featured a particular area of SPJ's programs and resources, including the organization's communications channels, FOI and open records access, ethics and more. The project also gave me the opportunity to do a cross-post series about it on the headquarters staff blog, SPJ Works. For a "behind the scenes" perspective, I used my personal blog, Mr. Public Relations, to talk about the project from the broader view of branding strategy.

Below you can view each series that I developed.
